/ What
San Marco Pitture and Novacolor needed to govern an operational process that goes beyond software itself: tinting operators, retailers and administrators must install the correct client, activate licenses, use formulas and connect the color desk to central services without fragile manual steps. Leonardo was created as a desktop application for dispensing colors through tinting machines, supported by a license portal and APIs that connect activations, accounts, documents and updates.
/ How
Kuama worked on two integrated fronts. On one side, a .NET 8 deployer with Inno Setup, PowerShell and GitHub Actions builds installable Leonardo/Butterfly artifacts, selecting environment, version, application branch and database inclusion when needed. On the other, the license portal, based on Java 11, JHipster/Spring, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL and Docker, exposes services and interfaces for licenses, access, maps, documents and integrations consumed by the client. This architecture reduces the operational weight of updates: desktop release and license governance are treated as a single traceable flow.
/ The_result
The result is a more controllable ecosystem for the daily work of paint shops and the sales network: operators can use the tinting client with coherent configurations and services, administrators have a portal to track licenses and connected data, and the technical team can release setup packages and integrations with fewer manual interventions. The work covered desktop software, portal, APIs, installation, geolocation, authentication and updates. The main benefit is greater traceability and operational stability across the release cycle and license management.

A desktop setup connected to the license portal
The most concrete choice was to turn distribution of the tinting client into a parameterized pipeline: the release workflow retrieves Leonardo assets, builds the application, generates the setup by environment and flavor, updates configuration toward staging or production and publishes the artifact to the license portal. For those managing the network this means less ambiguity between versions, environments and installations; for tinting operators it means receiving an app coherent with central services.
